Asakusa Shrine, known in Japanese as Sanja-sama, was built in the Edo Period and somehow survived the bombings of World War Two. It is just a few minutes walk from the train station of Asakusa on the subway line. This shrine has free entry and also has a unique open roof market that closes the top in bad weather.
